  • Ctrl+G opens your prompt in your own editor.

Ctrl+X Ctrl+E does the same. Long prompts are easier to write there.

  • Ctrl+O opens a transcript viewer with timestamps and the model per message.

Useful to check which model answered and when.

  • Ctrl+S stashes your prompt text and restores it on the next empty prompt.

It works in ! shell mode too.

  • Ctrl+V pastes an image as an [Image #N] chip you can refer to by number.

You can then say "compare Image 1 and Image 2".

  • Option+P switches model, Option+T toggles thinking, Option+O toggles fast mode.

On macOS, set Option as Meta in your terminal first. The thinking toggle has no effect on models that always think.

  • Ctrl+B sends a running command or agent to the background.

tmux users press it twice. /tasks manages what is running.

  • Ctrl+W deletes a whole path or --flag=value in one press.

Ctrl+Y pastes it back, and Alt+Y cycles through older deletions.

  • Esc interrupts Claude but keeps the work done; Ctrl+C escalates.

Ctrl+C interrupts, then clears input, then exits on the second press.

  • /statusline writes a status line script from a plain-language request.

The script receives session JSON on stdin, including context percentage, cost and rate limits.
